It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our esteemed colleague, Hector Miller. Hector was an exceptional educator at the Bendigo Tech School, a visionary in emerging technologies, and a passionate advocate for creating opportunities for student-centred learning, particularly in the arts, media, and creative industries.
With an impressive career that spanned almost 30 years, Hector was at the forefront of integrating innovative and creative technologies into education, always striving to enhance student learning experiences. His thoughtful educational philosophy always found ways of meeting students at their point of need. He humbly achieved this through considered educational design, leaving an indelible mark on the field of education and the students he sought to inspire.
Beyond his professional achievements, Hector was a devoted family man, known for his generosity, wisdom and unwavering support of those around him. He gave freely of his time and expertise, always ready to offer guidance, encouragement and a helping hand. His resilience, kindness, humour and deep care for others made him not just a respected colleague, but a cherished friend to many.
Although Hector was taken from us far too soon, his influence was profound and long reaching. We are grateful for his expertise, innovation and unwavering commitment to education. We at the Bendigo Tech School are humbled and wish to recognise that his impact will continue to be felt by students, educators and the wider community. We will strive to honour his legacy by continuing the work he was so deeply committed to—shaping the future of learning with curiosity, creativity, and compassion.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with Hector’s loving family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed. Vale, our esteemed colleague and friend, Hector.
